Political transformation in China: from new authoritarianism to conservative politics

At present, the core issues concerning politics in China are one-party governance, social and cultural reforms, and mature market-government relationship. Although the specific measures for conservative politics are varied, they should at least include direct election at the township level, community democracy, petition-based legislation, citizen juries, gender equality, individual rights protection and restriction of monopolistic capital.
